Volunteer - Expression of interest

Central Highlands Festival of Bands and Choirs 2026

The festival takes place in Emerald (QLD) from Thursday May 7 – Saturday May 9. You’d be departing on flights to Emerald on Thursday morning, returning Sunday afternoon.

What we are looking for: 3 musicians* with an education-related major, 1 brass volunteer, 1 woodwind volunteer, 1 percussion volunteer.

All travel expenses are covered including flights and accomodation (single room) as well as food expenses.

Bring your instrument and enthusiasm.

*Current Blue Card mandatory

Volunteer tasks include:

• helping kids band and choir during rehearsals and performance

• participate in intermediate and/or advanced band to fill gaps/add strength where needed 

• managing people at the door/scanning in tickets for the gala concert on Saturday

• help stage managing

• general conductor help

• stage setup for gala concert on Friday afternoon (taping off playground equipment and out of bounds areas, the concert is in a primary school oval and the public should not be using facilities other than amenities)

• collection, sorting of music after the concert

There's an established team on the ground, nobody is thrown in the deep end.
